Secret U.s. Military Aircraft - The US Air Force has unveiled concept art of a new fighter jet that has been secretly designed, built and tested.
Last September, Will Roper, a senior US Air Force procurement official, told Defense News: “We have already built and tested a full-scale flight demonstrator in the real world, and in this we have broken records. We are ready to build next generation aircraft like never before.

The new aircraft, which is intended to replace the F-22, is part of the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program.

Little is known about the aircraft, but the Air Force has provided an important clue: concept art of a fighter being built under the NGAD program. This figure appears in the recently released US Air Force Biennial Acquisitions Report. Read the full report here.
The report says of the program, “Next Generation Air Dominance is a family of capabilities that deliver air superiority in the most challenging environments by implementing the core principles of digital engineering, agile software development, and open architectures. By introducing short technology development cycles, the program improves technology and reduces risk through prototyping and operational testing.
“Designed to complement the F-35 and F-22 in the air superiority role, Next Generation Air Dominance is an advanced aviation program to develop penetrating anti-aircraft platforms with multi-domain awareness and rapid defensive communications. and a comprehensive family of capabilities.
“The program uses an unconventional acquisition approach to avoid traditional monolithic program schedules and excessive life cycle costs. Called the Digital Century Series, this strategy creates a realistic business case for the industry to adopt commercial best practices for key design activities—before a part is even manufactured.

"The Amarillo aircraft were B-2 training programs," a US Air Force official with direct knowledge of the incident told USNI on Monday.
The planes were on their way to the Utah Test and Training Range to practice dropping bombs after a short stop at Melrose Air Force Training Ground in New Mexico.
Taking off from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, the B-2s most likely reached the Melrose Ridge via Amarillo.
"The picture of Kansas could be training programs flying in Kansas and Missouri," the official added.

Whiteman, the base station for the B-2 fleet, is outside Kansas City, near the Kansas-Missouri border.
Earlier reports indicated that the images show a hitherto unknown type of triangular-shaped aircraft.
